My Plant Doctor("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application that helps you identify plants and diagnose plant health issues using AI. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
- Plant images:When you photograph a plant or pick one from your gallery, the image is compressed on your device and sent to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI's API for analysis. We do not store these images on our servers; they are processed in-flight only.
- Device identifier: We use a stable, anonymous device identifier to enforce free/premium usage limits and link your subscription to this device. It is never linked to your name, email, or any other personal information.
- Subscription and purchase data: If you subscribe to the premium plan, payment processing is handled by the App Store or Google Play, and the resulting subscription state is verified through RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your payment details.
- Crash and diagnostic data: If the app crashes or encounters an unexpected error, we collect a stack trace, the device model, OS version, the action you were taking just before, and your anonymous device identifier through Sentry. This helps us fix bugs. No plant photos or personal information are included in crash reports.
- Plant data on your device: Plant names, photos, watering schedules, and health records you save are stored locally on your device only. We do not sync, back up, or have any access to this data.
How We Use Your Information
- To analyse plant images and return a health diagnosis via OpenAI's API.
- To enforce free and premium usage limits using your anonymous device ID.
- To manage your subscription status via RevenueCat.
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability via Sentry.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- OpenAI— processes plant images for AI analysis. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, content sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models and is retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring before deletion. Privacy Policy

Permissions
- Camera — used solely to photograph plants for diagnosis. Camera images are transmitted only when you explicitly initiate a scan. We do not access your camera in the background.
- Photos & Media (gallery) — used only when you tap the gallery icon in the camera screen to pick an existing photo. We never browse your library otherwise.
- Notifications— used only to send watering reminders for plants you've added. You can disable this any time in Settings.
Data Retention
Plant images sent for analysis are not retained on our servers. OpenAI may temporarily retain the image for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring per their API policy. RevenueCat retains your anonymous device ID and subscription state for as long as your account exists. Sentry retains crash data per their default retention (typically 90 days). All plant data you save in the app stays on your device and is deleted when you remove plants, delete your account through the app, or uninstall the app.
Your Rights and Choices
You can delete all your data at any time directly from the app: Settings → Data → Delete account & all data. This action will:
- Permanently delete your plant collection, photo history, watering schedules, and all settings stored on the device.
- Cancel all scheduled watering reminders.
- Delete your RevenueCat subscriber record (including any usage counters).
- Reset the app to a fresh state.
Note: cancelling an active subscription must be done through the App Store or Google Play directly, as we do not control their billing. To request deletion of crash reports already collected by Sentry, contact us at the email below and we will issue the deletion request to Sentry on your behalf.
Children's Privacy
My Plant Doctor is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS-encrypted connections. We do not store plant images on our servers. We do not log or transmit any personal information beyond the anonymous device ID used for rate limiting and subscription management.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
